Lay in the head and the crouched body as smooth shapes first.
Set the ears at a natural angle, not straight up.
Place the large eye high on the side of the head.
Add the muzzle, the nose and the split lip below it.
Break every outline into short strokes for the coat.
Work the strokes in the direction the fur lies, shoulder to hip.
Fan the whiskers out from either side of the muzzle.
Add the grass around the feet, longer than the fur strokes.
Leave pale gaps through the coat so it does not go solid.
