Here is halloween garland in 8 steps.
Draw the string first, one long shallow curve across the page.
Hang a short thread down from it, then a star at the end.
Add a second thread, longer, with a ghost at the end.
Give the ghost two eyes, an open mouth and a wavy hem.
Add a third thread with a bat: two scalloped wings and two ears.
Work along the string, alternating the three shapes.
Vary every thread length so none of them match.
Finish by checking the string sags evenly at both ends.
