Here is dragon eye in 8 steps.
Draw the almond of the eye in the middle of the page.
Add the slit pupil standing upright inside it.
Ring the pupil with the iris, leaving a highlight.
Draw the heavy lid above and the lower lid below.
Add the first ring of scales around the lid.
Fan a second ring outside it, each scale overlapping.
Keep fanning the rings out to the edge of the sheet.
Finish with the brow ridge above the eye.
