Draw the face first: the pointed snout, the nose and the two eyes.

Add the small ears and the santa hat sitting between them.

Outline the body as a wide teardrop around the face.

Draw the pale belly panel inside that outline.

Work the spines in rows from the head backwards, all leaning the same way.

Keep the rows overlapping so no gaps show through.

Add the two small front paws holding the candy cane.

Finish with the feet and the stripes on the cane.
